Sampling for Initial Water Quality Clearance

The Florida Department of Health has provided these instructions for Initial Water Quality Water Clearance for 64E-8.006 governed water supplies.

Day 1
Obtain 1 water sample from the source prior to any treatment for bacteriological analysis (Total Coliform). Fill out the "Drinking Water Analysis" form with details of the sampling event. Not all blanks need to be filled out - only what applies to your water supply.

Day 2
  1. Prior to using the water supply for any other purpose, obtain a "first draw" water sample from the distribution system (e.g. indoor water tap) for lead analysis. Do not let the water run prior to filling the bottle.
  2. Obtain a sample for bacteriological analysis from the indoor tap.
  3. Obtain a sample for bacteriological analysis from the source (well).
  4. Obtain a sample for nitrate analysis from the well.
Complete the Bacteriological Analysis form and the 64E-8 Chemical Analysis form. These forms will be included with the sample containers KNL will send you.
